Thomas Campbell’s My Big TOE (Theory of Everything) is a model of reality that combines digital physics with the study of consciousness. In this framework, consciousness is the fundamental substrate, and our physical world is a virtual reality simulation designed for evolutionary growth.

Diagram 1: AUO and Its Evolution into AUM

A temporal process: AUM is AUO evolved, not a separate level

Consciousness is not static; it is an evolving system. It began as AUO (Absolute Unbounded Oneness): a primordial, undifferentiated state of maximum entropy. Through a process of spontaneous fluctuations and self-organization, it evolved into AUM (Absolute Unbounded Manifold), also known as the Larger Consciousness System (LCS).

KEY: AUO and AUM are the SAME consciousness at different stages of evolution. AUO is not ‘above’ or ‘outside’ AUM; it is what AUM was before it evolved.

• AUO: No structure, maximum entropy, pure potential.
• Evolution: Spontaneous patterns develop feedback and self-awareness.
• AUM: A structured, self-aware information processor capable of generating sub-realities.

AUM / LCS ⊃ NPMR ⊃ PMR: Nested Levels of Existence

Reality is a nested structure where each level is a subset of the one above it.

NOTE: PMR is inside NPMR, which is inside AUM/LCS. AUO is not a level; it is what AUM was before evolution.

The hierarchy consists of three nested levels:

1. AUM / LCS (Larger Consciousness System): The totality of conscious existence. It contains all realities as sub-systems, with no space or time at this level.
2. NPMR (Non-Physical Matter Reality): Comprises non-physical levels such as OBE environments, between-life states, and entity realms. It has more degrees of freedom than PMR.
3. PMR (Physical Matter Reality): Our physical universe. It is the most constrained level, providing the “evolutionary friction” optimal for consciousness growth.

How the soul persists across physical incarnations

The Individuated Unit of Consciousness (IUC) is the “soul” or the core “player.”

KEY: Each lifetime: avatar accumulates experience, which the IUC carries forward as evolutionary gains.

• The Session: Each physical lifetime is a session in the PMR simulation.
• Persistence: The IUC persists across sessions, carrying forward its evolutionary history.
• The Cycle: The IUC projects an avatar into PMR, gathers data through choices, and returns to NPMR to process the gains.

Sincerity, Effort, and Patience: All three must be present simultaneously

Genuine evolution of consciousness requires three elements present simultaneously.

WARNING: Missing any one of the three conditions prevents genuine growth.

• Sincerity: Authentic intent, not just “performed” virtue.
• Effort: Genuinely engaging with the challenging situations that provide evolutionary friction.
• Patience: Accepting that transformation is gradual and measured in lifetimes rather than moments.

Fear, Love, and Consciousness Quality

The central measure of evolution: from high entropy to low entropy.

DEFINITION: Evolution is entropy reduction, specifically the gradual shift from fear-driven to love-driven orientation through repeated intentional choices.

• High Entropy: Dominated by Fear, Ego, and Self-centeredness. It is reactive, fragmented, and closed to new data.
• Low Entropy: Characterized by Love, Wisdom, and Other-orientation. It is coherent, empathetic, and aligned with AUM.

Physical reality is generated by the LCS as a digital simulation rendered on demand.

INSIGHT: Unobserved quantum systems remain as probability distributions in the LCS computational space. Observation (conscious interaction) triggers rendering to a definite value.

• Layer 1 (Substrate): The LCS as a computational processor.
• Layer 2 (Rendering Engine): Converts probability distributions into experienced states.
• Layer 3 (PMR): Space, time, matter, and energy: the rule-set of this specific simulation.

Why does PMR exist? It is an optimal learning environment for consciousness evolution.

KEY: Each IUC’s entropy reduction collectively reduces the entropy of the LCS itself. Individual evolution and cosmic evolution are one and the same process.

• Processing: After physical death, the IUC returns to NPMR, processes its gains, and re-engages for another session.

• Direct Experience: First-person empirical truth; irreducible and most reliable.

PRINCIPLE: The LCS evaluates the quality of intent, not the surface appearance of actions. Performance of virtue without genuine love-driven motivation produces no entropy reduction.

• Fear-driven: Motivation by fear of judgment or desire for praise serves the ego.
• Love-driven: Authentic orientation toward another’s wellbeing reduces entropy and enables genuine growth.

• High Quality: Love-oriented consciousness has genuine freedom because it can respond from discernment rather than compulsion.
